Algerian experience in sustainable blue economy presented in Nairobi

ALGIERS- Minister of Tourism and Craft Industry Abdelkader Benmessaoud presented Monday in Nairobi, Kenya, Algeria’s experience in sustainable blue economy and the major structuring projects
Algeria has achieved to get a “successful and modern economy,” the ministry said in a statement.
In an opening address at the high-level Sustainable Blue Economy Conference, Benmessaoud stressed the importance of “optimal use of the available resources through blue economic development, which means good management of fishery resources and protection of seas and oceans.”
The blue economy is a key economic factor, the minister said, adding that “Algeria is making available huge financial and material resources, in addition to the adaptation of its legal arsenal to meet the challenge of the economic, environmental and energy transformation.”
Benmessaoud emphasized “the importance Algeria attaches to boosting cooperation between African countries and the two shores of the Mediterranean, through numerous partnerships and a strong and sustainable cooperation, mainly in relation to blue economy.”
Algeria, according to the minister, will host on December 3-4 the regional ministerial conference on sustainable development of blue economy in the Western Mediterranean.
