ALGIERS- Chief of the European Union (EU) delegation in Algeria, Ambassador John O’Rourke, said during a meeting with Energy Minister Abdelmadjid Attar, that Algeria represented an “important partner”
to ensure the EU countries energy security, said a communiqué of the ministry.
Minister of Energy Abdelmadjid Attar received Tuesday Ambassador and Head of the European Union delegation in Algeria, John O’Rourke.
The two parties discussed bilateral relations in particular in the energy sector, according to a statement from the ministry published on its official Facebook page.
The two parties underlined “the solidity of relations and the imperative to strengthen them at all levels, especially as EU countries are among Algeria’s major customers and partners in the energy sector,” the source added.
Attar also pleaded for the continuation and the consolidation of this cooperation through the execution of more partnership projects as part of the framework of a win-win principle.
The minister also stressed the importance of the new law on hydrocarbons, as a fundamental legal framework capable of boosting investment, especially after the finalization of the preparation of 32 application texts.
The EU ambassador highlighted the importance of the “Algerian partner for EU countries energy security.”
The European diplomat also expressed the interest of European companies in energy investment in Algeria, referring to cooperation and partnership opportunities, particularly in terms of training, technology transfer and technical assistance, which can be provided by the EU for the benefit of Algeria in the field of energy security.
