ALGIERS- General Said Chanegriha, Chief of the Staff of the People’s National Army, received in an audience on Tuesday UK Defense Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME),

Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, who is on a visit to Algeria leading a large military delegation, the Ministry of the National Defense said in a statement.

During this audience, held at the headquarters of the General Staff of the People’s National Assembly, and to which took part general officers of the National Defense Ministry and of the General Staff of the People’s National Assembly, alongside members of the British military delegation, the two sides “reviewed the state of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and examined, together, ways to further strengthen it. They also discussed the security situation at the regional and international levels,” said the source.

After welcoming the guest delegation, General Chanegriha affirmed that “this visit is likely to allow the diversification and promotion of the bilateral military cooperation,” while expressing “our country’s willingness to implement the practical measures aimed to achieve the expected dynamic.”

“Your visit today reflects your interest in the examination of ways that enable diversifying and promoting bilateral military cooperation,” he added.

“We would like to express our full readiness to implement the practical measures in order to achieve the expected dynamic, on the basis of a sincere cooperation and a far-sighted, perennial and pragmatic move,” he added.

General Chanegriha underlined that “it is useful to place the dynamic of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries within the framework of a move aimed at moving forward by enhancing the excellent relations between the armies of the two countries, notably in the field of training.”

“As regards the diversification of the activities related to our bilateral cooperation, I propose to examine together the offered opportunities and areas of their implementation, notably in terms of training,” he added.

“Algeria, concerned about the respect of its sovereign decisions, has economic and military relations with several friendly countries,” said General Said Chanegriha.

The meeting was also an opportunity for the two sides to “exchange the analyses and viewpoints on issues of common interest,” »said the statement.

In this regard, UK Defense Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa “praised the objective analyses presented by Algeria on the regional and international security situation,” while stressing “his country’s readiness to further promote the bilateral military relations in various fields.”
