VIENNA- Algeria reiterated, in Vienna, its commitment to continuing its determined fight against terrorism, violent extremism and radicalisation, as well as against organized cross-border crime and drug and human trafficking.
Speaking in the 24th session of the ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) which took place Thursday and Friday in the Austrian capital, the Algerian delegation, led by Algeria’s ambassador to Vienna Fouzia Mebarki, reaffirmed “the willingness and commitment of Algeria to promote the dialogue and strengthen the cooperation between OSCE and the Mediterranean partner countries on the basis of inclusivity and trust.”
Algeria also reiterated its determination to “continue its determined fight against terrorism, violent extremism and radicalisation, as well as against organized cross-border crime and drug and human trafficking which are interconnected ,” while affirming that it also attacked the causes of these scourges “contributing thus to the stabilisation of the region.”
The Algerian delegation seized this opportunity to reiterate Algeria’s “major concern” about the decision of the American administration to recognize Al Quds as the capital of Israel, before warning the participants of the “consequences of such a violation on the peace process, which is at the standstill, and its serious threats on the peace, security and stability of the region.”
The 24th OSCE ministerial council wrapped up after two day of debates focused on ways to resolve the conflicts and deal with the risks and threats facing the member countries, such as terrorism, organized international crime, drug trafficking, illegal immigration and human trafficking.
