ALGIERS- The recommendations stemming from the meetings of the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, on the forming of an executive authority and the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections, have been broached and underlined for a long time by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum.

In a statement to the channel France 24, Boukadoum said that “President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized, since the beginning, the need to resolve the issue of the legitimacy of the Libyan leaders and to hold general election,” pointing out that “these are the same recommendations which culminated the works of the members of the inter- Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (held in November in Geneva), who agreed on the holding of general election on 24 December 2021.”

“In fact, the guidelines that the President of the Republic gave a long time ago to the Libyan parties have been indeed adopted,” added Boukadoum.

“A visit of the members of the new executive authority in Libya is expected to Algeria,” said Boukadoum, underlining that he had phone calls with “Prime Minister of Libya interim executive authority Abdelhamid Dbeibah, Vice-President of the elected Libyan Presidential Council Moussa Al-Kouni and Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed El-Menfi, about the forthcoming visit to Algeria.”

Concerning the situation in Mali, Boukadoum affirmed that Algeria has undertaken a number of initiatives to accompany the Malian people in the implementation of the Agreement on Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, stemming from Algiers process.
