ALGIERS- Algeria has moved up by 29 places worldwide in the field of e-commerce, according to the annual report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD),
quoted Sunday by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.
“According to UNCTAD’s latest report on e-commerce, Algeria has recorded a significant increase, moving up from the 109th place to the 80th place worldwide, ranking the 4th in Africa,” said the ministry in its communiqué.
The report “is based on a series of indicators, including widespread access to Internet, network security, financial integration and reliability of postal services, in line with the Universal Postal Union’s classification.”
This latter “aims to measure the countries’ readiness for the revitalization of e-commerce, particularly in light of the covid-19 pandemic,” the source concluded.
