Railway projects: Anserif inks two MoUs with German, Portuguese companies

ALGIERS-The National agency for studies and monitoring of railway investments (Anesrif) inked Tuesday two Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) with two German and Portuguese companies to implement partnership in assistance in railway and high speed rails (HSR) projects management and implementation.
The agreements have been signed in the presence of Transport Minister Boudjemaa Talai and ambassadors of Germany and Portugal to Algiers.
The first MoU signed between Director General of Anersif Azzedine Fridi and Director of international relations at DB Engineering&Consulting GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, Michel Auli, relates to assistance in the management and implementation of railway projects.
“This partnership will enable us develop a concerted approach in general and specialized assistance in replacement projects or other projects underway and studies for implementation and electrification of new rails,” Auli stressed at the signing ceremony.
Highlighting the importance of the Algerian market in which DB Engineering&Consulting GmbH’s presence dates back to 1961, the same official stated that this agreement will also allow engage in a mutual assistance partnership and share experiences in the railway sector between both countries.
The second MoU has been signed between Fridi and CEO of the Portuguese company Teixeira Duarte-Indenierie&Construction SA, Pedro Teixeira Duarte.
In fact, both parties will engage in a partnership aiming at implementing, electrifying and maintaining high-speed rails (HSR).
Both MoUs provide for the creation of two joint-stock companies in accordance with the Algerian legislation governing foreign investments (51%-49%).
Speaking at a press briefing, Talai underscored the importance of these agreements as the establishment of the joint-stock company coming under the Algerian law provides for training in HSR exploitation.
“The partnership with Algeria will help master management and exploitation of these railways projects,” he said, stressing the importance of railway projects launched by Algeria.
