ALGIERS – Trade Minister Said Djellab on Wednesday in Algiers launched the first operation for the export of 400 tonnes of Algerian products to the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.
The export operation by land route, composed of 24 trucks conveys 400 tonnes of Algerian products, including agricultural products (220 tonnes), household appliances (40 tonnes), food products (120 tonnes) and sanitary products (20 tonnes). The cargo is expected to arrive in Nouakchott within ten days.
In this regard, the minister announced that a “large operation” for the export of the equivalent of 120 trucks of building materials to Niger will take place before the end of 2018.
The export operation will be launched from the city of Tamanrasset.
The Algerian exports have been boosted thanks to the “combined efforts of several ministries,” he said.
Djellab also announced that another export operation to Nouakchott and Dakar (Senegal) would take place within 15 days.
In 2018, the Algerian products have received good echoes in the countries where Algerian products fairs have been organized, said Djellab.
The Trade Ministry had conducted a survey on the 2019-2023 national strategies on the export diversification, which is now in the finalization stage.
Referring to the national meeting with the economic operators, the minister said that a roadmap will be elaborated in 2019. It will include a number of activities; namely the training of the exporting economic operators and the encouragement of the exporting companies which possess distribution networks abroad.
This roadmap is also meant to send an invitation to the large distributors from Africa and further countries to the Algerian Production Fair which will be organized in October 2019.
Recently, the minister has said that more than fifty export contracts had been signed during the Algerian Products Fairs which have been organized abroad and other deals are being negotiated.
Algerian Products Fairs have been organized in 2018 in the USA, Belgium, Gabon, Senegal, Qatar and in Egypt.
