Attaf invited the members of the mission to continue and intensify their efforts in the run-up to the June 6 event and to work to receive the support of the greatest possible number of UN member countries for Algeria’s candidacy for the Security Council, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The Minister also emphasized President Tebboune’s instructions concerning the proper preparation of forthcoming meetings by meeting all conditions guaranteeing the success of Algeria’s mandate and enabling it to bring a qualitative plus to the Council’s action, so as to ensure greater effectiveness in efforts to preserve international peace and security.

Drawing on the rich record of Algerian diplomacy, the FM stressed the need to redouble our efforts and work with dedication and honesty to make Algeria’s voice heard, a voice distinguished by its farsightedness and spirit of initiative in contributing to the international community’s efforts to meet current challenges.

Algeria, whose candidacy enjoys the support of the African Union (AU) and the Arab League, is heading for the Security Council, charged with the responsibility of conveying the hopes and aspirations of the brotherly peoples to put an end to crises and live in security and shared prosperity.
