Algeria urges for seriously, frankly assistance for Libyans to overcome crisis

ADDIS-ABEBA (Ethiopia)- Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League Abdelkader Messahel reiterated Tuesday, in Addis Ababa, Algeria’s call for the respect of Libyan people’s will in the settlement of the crisis shaking the country, inviting the international community to provide a serious assistance to Libyans to help them get out of the crisis.
“Algeria is convinced that the Libyan people are able to overcome their divergences. That’s why my country calls, once again, for the respect of the will of Libyans, who should take ownership of the peace process and invites the international community to seriously, frankly and unequivocally assist Libyans to help them get their country out of the ongoing crisis,” Messahel said at the summit meeting of the AU high-level committee on Libya.
“Algeria has warned, since the outset of the crisis in Libya, against the dangers of a stalemate in this country and urged for involving, all Libyan political, security cultural and religious parties, the representatives of the tribes and the civil society, except the terrorist groups listed as such by the United Nations, in the political process and make efforts to restore peace and security in this country.”
Algeria “will continue to back the efforts of the Libyans, the United Nations, the African Union, the neighbouring countries, the international Community and all those who are involved in the peace restoring process in this sister country to put an end to the immeasurable sufferings of Libyan people, who merely only to live in peace, serenity and prosperity.”
