PARIS (France)- The speaker of the Council of the Nation Abdelkader Bensalah said Monday, in Paris, that the economic cooperation between Algeria and France must go beyond the commercial aspect and promote investment.
“The situation is thus favorable to give a new impetus to bilateral economic cooperation. A cooperation that must go beyond the commercial aspect and further promote productive investment, technological transfer and the realization of competitive clusters and centers of excellence,” underlined Bensalah in a speech at the opening of the 1st Algerian-French High Level Forum between the Council of the Nation and the French Senate.
In this regard, he said that French companies “who have good knowledge of the Algerian economy and who are favoured by factors specific to particular relations” between the two countries, “are better placed to seize numerous opportunities made possible by the huge ongoing development programme in Algeria and thus, through win-win partnerships.”
“These efforts expected from French operators will strengthen economic relations that are already strong between our two countries, France being one of the Algeria’s first partners in trading and investments,” he added.
The Speaker of the Council of the Nation, who is on his first official visit to France said, in this regard, that the relations between the two countries “are experiencing a quantitative and qualitative leap,” and thus, thanks to the “determined” political commitment of Presidents Abdelaziz Bouteflika and François Hollande who “established a strong and fruitful dialogue” between the two countries “reinforced by regular exchanges and consultations at different level and on many subjects of common interest.”
