AMMAN-The National Organization of Algerian Sports Journalists (ONJSA) has been re-elected for a four-year term as member of the Board of Directors (equivalent to the Executive Bureau) of the Arab Sports
Press Union (UAPS) during the Elective General Assembly held Sunday in Amman (Jordan), the union announced Monday.
The ONJSA is represented at the Board of Directors by Hocine Zenagui, UAPS member and General Treasurer, who has been elected with 13 voices out of 14. He will sit alongside Badreddine El Idrissi (Morocco), Abdellah Hadi (Iraq), Rachid Nessar (Lebanon), Yasser Aaiss (Sudan), Radjaa Al Saadani (Tunisia), Nacer Iyad (Syria) and Ahmed Karim (Bahrain).
The Assembly agreed to freeze the membership of Palestine until the resolution of the internal problem between the Palestinian Union of Sports Press (UPPS) and the Palestinian League of Sports Journalists (LPJS).
The 18 members attending the UAPS Assembly General voted in favour of Jordanian Mohamed Djamil Abdelkader, the only candidate for the presidency of the Union for a four-year term.
In addition to Algeria, eighteen (18) countries, namely the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Palestine, Egypt, Mauritania, Lebanon, Qatar and Yemen.
On the sidelines of the Assembly works, the UAPS held an award-granting ceremony for sports journalists from various Arab countries, in recognition of their efforts to promote Arab sport and their professional career.
Algerian journalist Redha Maouche (El Moudjahid French-speaking edition) was hornoured before political and sports figures from Jordan and other countries.
