ENP: Algeria, EU formally adopt “Partnership Priorities” approved in 2016
APS : Monday, 13 March 2017
BRUSSELS (Belgium)- Algeria and the European Union (EU) formally adopted Monday, in Brussels (Belgium), their “Partnership Priorities” agreed upon in December 2016 and established under the renewed European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP).
The partnership priorities establish a renewed political cooperation and a strengthened cooperation. They were established by a joint agreement in the framework of the reviewed European neighbourhood policy and the EU global strategy and security.
“This neighbourhood spirit should lead to the financial allocation of some programmes highly developed by Algeria in the framework of its reforms,” said the minister of State, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra in a joint press briefing with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, and the European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn
This allocation should be “substantial” and “to the level of what is granted to other partners of a size similar to that of Algeria,” added Lamamra.
