APS : Tuesday, 10 May 2016
ALGIERS-The 17 edition of the International Tourism and Travel Show (SITEV) kicked off Sunday with the participation of 256 exhibitors including 23 representing 15 Arab and foreign countries.
Director General of the National Tourism Office (ONT) Noureddine Belmihoub told APS that “the show is held this year under the slogan +Tourism and sustainable economy+ and constitutes a major annual tourist event since it offers the opportunity to national and foreign economic operators to showcase their tourist products and have new contacts.”
The event to run until 18 May “is also an opportunity to discover several destinations and tourist offers available for the upcoming summer season.”
The aim of this event “is to highlight the Algeria destination, strengthen domestic tourism and support partnerships with national and foreign operators, and therefore involve the sector in sustainable economic development.”
Held by the Ministry of National Planning, Tourism and Craft Industry, SITEV aims to highlight “national tourist potential, competitive and high-quality products as well as the promotion of +Algeria+ destination and the intensification of tourist activities with professionals of the tourism and travel sector and their customers.
“Extending over an area of 9000 m², this show houses several stands that will present their local tourist offers for the next summer season including beach, thermal, climate and environmental tourism in several regions,” the same official said.
A special stand will be devoted to Saharan tourist offers that attract more and more nationals and foreigners, mainly during the autumn-winter season.
Workshops and B to B meetings will be held on the sidelines of the SITEV to broach several issues relating to “the development and promotion of tourism in Algeria and the means to establish a high-quality tourist destination,” he added.
International transport companies and tourism operators from Iran, Malaysia, Turkey, Morocco, Jordan, UAE, France, Tunisia, Geneva, Egypt, Venezuela, Kenya, Spain and Mexico will participate in this event.
Several national operators including national banks, air transport operators, studies offices, investors, associations and hotels will partake in the 17th edition of SITEV.
