ALGIERS-Finance Minister Abderrahmane Rouaya held talks in Algiers with many ministers and leaders of international and regional financial institutions on the sidelines of the Conference on the contribution of digital economy to the growth of the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA),
organized Monday and Tuesday by his department in collaboration with the World Bank (WB) and the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF).
Raouya met with his Maltese counterpart Hon Edward Scicluna and Tunisia’s Minister of Investment Development and International Cooperation Zied Ladhari, with whom he discussed the conference, its impact on the MENA region and the measures to take in order to implement its recommendations, said the ministry.
The officials also focused on bilateral relations with these two countries.
Besides, the minister held talks with the WB Vice President for the MENA region Hafez Ghanem and the AMF Managing Director of the Arab Monetary Fund Abderrahmane Ben Abdella Al Hamidi, with whom he discussed relations between Algerian and this two financial institutions and the prospects of their consolidation.
Ghanem and Al Hamidi expressed satisfaction with the appreciable level of their relations with Algeria and their willingness to support Algeria in its economic reform programmes.
Moreover, Raouya met with the Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of GCC (the Gulf Cooperation Council) Abdul Rahim Hassan Al Naqi, with whom he discussed cooperation opportunities between his institution and Algerian bodies.
The minister held talks with Adviser to President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Hind Sindi who underscored the bank’s willingness to support Algeria in terms of technical assistance for technology and research.
