Palestine: Any decision aiming at “changing” Al-Quds status will be “invalid”

ALGIERS – Foreign Minister Abdelakader Messahel said Wednesday in Algiers that any decision that “aims to alter the nature, status or demographic composition” of the holy city of AI Quds will be “invalid and has no legal effect.”
Abdelkader Messahel made these remarks at the opening of the third session of the Joint Economic and Technological Cooperation Commission between Algeria and the Netherlands, attended by Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs, Stef Blok.
“Like my country, your country remains convinced that the region’s oldest conflict, namely the denial of the most basic right to the Palestinian people which is to live freely and independently, requires a just, comprehensive and lasting peace on the basis of the two-state solution and in accordance with the international law and legal decisions,” he added.
As for him, the Dutch foreign minister has called on the international community to spare no effort to move towards a two-State solution in Palestine in order to “get out of the negative spiral”.
“As far as the Middle East is concerned, the two parties to the conflict are currently not ready to negotiate. So we must encourage (all parties) to take a step towards the two-State solution so that this question comes out of the negative spiral,” he said.
The two ministers’ statements come after US President Donald Trump’s unilateral decision to recognize El-Quds as the capital of Israel and to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to this holy city on May 14th.
