ALGIERS- Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel stressed Thursday Algeria’s permanent commitment to the African economic integration process, saying that it has put a lot into achieving big
structuring projects strengthening the continent’s assets in the field.
Algeria “has carried out regional structuring projects boosting the economic assets of Africa, such as the Algiers-Lagos Trans-Saharan Highway, Algiers-Abuja fiber-optic backbone and Algiers-Lagos gas pipeline,” Messahel said in an address marking the celebration, in Algeria, of Africa Day, in the presence of diplomats accredited to Algeria.
“Regional integrating projects, identified within the framework of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), included on the Agenda 2063 and its first implementation plan 2013-2023, as well as the establishment of the African Free Trade Zone (AFTZ) in Kigali (Rwanda) in March 2018, will boost trade and investments among Africans.”
Messahel added that “African Union’s decision to launch, in January 2018, the African air transport single market, which will improve connectivity across the continent, will boost trade and cross-border investments and create a large number of jobs.”
