BLIDA (Algeria)- Italian cyclist Luca Wackerman, from Emirates’ Nasr-Dubai Club, won Thursday the first stage of the International Tour of Blida,
snatching the leader’s yellow jersey and best sprinter’s red jersey.
Winner of the International Tour of Oran (432-km west of Algiers), the Italian cyclist managed to make a similar achievement by outclassing his opponents in the 107km-race (Blida-Tipasa-Blida).
The 23-year-old Italian clocked 2:31:07, ahead of Lithuanian Dzevus Darijus, from Staki- Baltik Vairas team of Lithuania (2:31:19) and his teammates, Moroccan Essaid Abelouache (2:31:19).
Luca Wackerman received the yellow jersey of the leader as well as best sprinter’s red jersey.
Tunisian Ali Nouissri won best climber’s polka dot jersey and best hopeful’s white jersey.
The second stage of the International Tour of Blida, the fourth event of the Grand Tour of Algeria (GTAC 2016), will stretch over a distance of 133 km (Blida-Djebabra-Blid).
