PARIS-Algerian startuppers in France decided Thursday in Paris to set up a digital platform of startups willing to implement development projects in Algeria.
The initiative is the result of a meeting at the Algerian Embassy in France, which brought together nearly a hundred startuppers working in France and others from Algeria, as part of the Cercle Saint-Augustin, a reflection framework launched a fortnight ago by Ambassador Abdelkader Mesdoua with the academic and research community.
Themed “Startups and incubators,” the meeting took place in the presence of the Governor of Algiers, Abdelkader Zoukh, who is on a working visit to France under the signing of a roadmap for the restoration and revitalization of the Casbah of Algiers with the Ile-de-France Region.
The ambassador proposed a two-month deadline for the setting of this platform and appointed a working group at the embassy for coordination.
He reiterated to startuppers the readiness of authorities to assist them as they expect a lot from members of the Algerian community in France to support their country with innovative projects.
“We are ready and determined to support you support,” said the ambassador who recalled the measures taken by President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in favour of members of the Algerian community living abroad in terms of housing, employment support and investment assistance.
“However, Algeria, which has positively changed since 1999, is suffering from some difficulties,” said the same official who advocated patience, pedagogy and time.”
For his part, the Governor of Algiers, who was accompanied by the manager of the Algiers Smart City project, seized the opportunity of this meeting to make a presentation on the Master Plan for the Development and Urban Planning of the City of Algiers (PDAU) 2015-2035.
The PDAU, a real urban project that aims to raise Algiers to the ranks of smart cities, includes 82 structuring and innovative projects.
