Algeria certified Malaria- free by WHO

ALGIERS- Algeria was certified Wednesday, in Switzerland, by the World Health Organization (WHO) as Malaria-free, making it the second African country to be granted a certfication of Malaria elimination,
said Thursday the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform in a communiqué.
“The certificate was delivered by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and WHO Regional Director for Africa Matshidiso Moeti to the Algerian delegation over its participation in the 72nd World Health Assembly, taking place in Geneva,” said the source.
“These results were achieved thanks to the unwavering commitment and perseverance of the people and leaders of both countries,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus,
This is the third certification the WHO grants to Algeria after that of Polio eradication in 2016 and Neonatal Tetanus elimination in 2018, he concluded.
