ALGIERS- Minister of Trade Said Djellab and his Saudi counterpart Majid ben Abdullah Al Qasabi agreed Monday, in Algiers, to organize a fair of the Algerian products in Saudi Arabia in
the first half of 2019, said a ministerial communiqué.
The agreement was reached in the meeting of the two ministers at the International Center of Conferences (CIC), on the sidelines of the official visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salmane to Algeria, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
The fair will see the participation of a number of Algerian businessmen and their Saudi counterparts, in addition to exhibiting companies, according to the source.
During the meeting, Djellab broached ways to develop cooperation and economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries, citing the main recommendations of the 12th Algerian-Saudi joint committee, held in February 2017 in Algiers.
The meeting of the 11th Algerian-Saudi business Council, organized in April 2018 in Riyadh, was backed by the organization of an Algerian-Saudi business meeting in Jeddah.
The minister also broached the new strategy, adopted by the sector of trade in Algeria, in accordance with the guidelines of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to diversify non-hydrocarbon exports, pointing out Algeria’s current potentialities in various sectors as well as its favorable business climate.
For his part, Saudi minister welcomed “the accelerated economic growth and the current momentum of foreign trade,” affirming that “he closely follows the different participations and exhibitions organized by Algeria abroad.”
Shedding light on the Algerian products, he expressed his country’s willingness to raise the volume of trading and joint investments between the two countries, according to the source.
