Algeria elected to International Labour Organization’s governing body

ALGIERS- Algeria has been elected a member of the governing body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) for a three-year term, at the 109th session of the International Labour Conference held by video link
in Geneva, Switzerland, the ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security said Tuesday in a statement.

“The International Labour Conference elected Algeria, on 14 June 2021, as a member of the governing body at the International Labour Organization (ILO) for a period of three years (from June 2021 to June 2024), obtaining 208 votes at the 109th session of the International Labour Conference, held by videoconference at Geneva, Switzerland,” the statement said.

Algeria will be represented on the ILO Governing Body as a deputy member of the so-called “floating” seat, held on a rotational basis by Africa and the two Americas every term, the statement said.

The election is an “important achievement for Algeria within this international organization” as it shows (ILO) member states’ recognition of Algeria’s active role within it and the efforts made to promote the agenda of decent work and social justice.”
