Algeria, Italy ink Memorandum of Understanding on strategic dialogue

ALGIERS- Algeria and Italy have inked on Saturday a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic dialogue on the bilateral relations, and the overall political and security questions.
The MoU was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, and Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation, Luigi Di-Maio, following talks between the two parties.
In a statement to the press, Boukadoum stressed that relations between Algeria and Italy are “special and called upon to grow further.”
He said that his talks with his Italian counterpart focused on “the means of consolidating bilateral relations and cooperation”, announcing an agreement between the two countries for the resumption of bilateral dialogue and cooperation aimed at developing a “real partnership” between the two countries.
The foreign minister also announced a “convergence of views” between Algeria and Italy on a number of regional issues, especially Libya and Mali, and the problems affecting the Mediterranean basin.
In this regard, Boukadoum expressed his thanks to Italy which invited Algeria to the next meeting of the G20 which will be chaired by this country in 2021.
Italian FM Luigi Di-Maio underlined the “strategic” Algerian-Italian relations, calling for their “consolidation to face the regional challenges that both countries are facing”.
