Algerian Larbi Djacta elected Chairman of UN International Civil Service Commission

NEW YORK – Candidate of Algeria Larbi Djacta has been elected on Friday in New York as chairman of the UN International Civil Service Commission for a four-year term as from January 1st, 2019.
Djacta was elected by 97 votes to 93 for the candidate of Morocco after a vote held at the UN Fifth Commission in charge of administrative and budgetary matters.
A former minister adviser in the Algeria Permanent Missions in Geneva and New York, Larbi Djacta has been an eminent civil servant in the United Nations system
The ICSC is a body of independent experts mandated by the UN General Assembly to regulate the conditions of service of staff in the UN common system and to promote high standards in the international civil service.
