3% hike in public industrial sector's output in H1 2016

ALGIERS- Industrial production in the public sector recorded a growth by 3.1% in the first half of 2016, compared with the same period in 2015, the National Statistics Office told APS.
In iron, steel, mechanical, electric and electronic industries, the growth reached 4.7% over the first three months of 2016.
The most significant growth was recorded in the manufacturing of metal furniture (+54%), metal consumer goods (+42.6%) and electrical equipment goods (+36%).
Low or zero growth were reported in precision mechanics for equipment (0%), intermediary mechanical and electrical goods (+1.5%) and industrial vehicle manufacturing (+4%).
A decline was recorded in the production of electrical consumer goods (-7.3%), mechanical consumer goods (-5%), mechanical equipment (-4%) and metal equipment goods (-3.5%).
In 2015, iron, steel, mechanical, electric and electronic industries recorded a growth by 1.3% compared with 2014.
In addition, the textile, hosiery and clothing industries rose to about 12% between January and March 2016 (+10.6%) in 2015, compared with 2014.
Leather and footwear industries recorded a growth by 4.02% in the first half of 2016, up 6.5% for intermediate leather goods against a drop by 0.5% for leather consumer goods.
Over 2015, the industry decreased by 9% compared with 2014.
In agrifood, tobacco and matches industries, production fell by 5.7%.
Mining and quarrying industries continued its upward trend with a growth of 5.4%
