Boukadoum, Kenya’s FM discuss bilateral relations and hotbeds of tension in Africa

ALGIERS- Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum and Kenyan counterpart Raychelle Omamo on Friday in Nairobi discussed the bilateral relations as well as the main sources of tension in Africa,
including the situations in Libya and Western Sahara, said the Foreign Ministry in a communiqué.
The two ministers have “thoroughly reviewed” the state of bilateral relations, exploring the ways for strengthening them.
They particularly welcomed the quality of the “historical” political relations and the “strategic partnership that link the two countries,” the ministry said.
In addition, Boukadoum and Omamo agreed to further deepen and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the economic and trade realms, putting in place the “necessary mechanisms to bring them in tune with excellent political relations,” added the same source.
With regard to regional and international issues, the two ministers noted with “satisfaction the convergence of their positions in favor of the respect for the principles of international law and the peaceful settlement” of crises and conflicts. They reviewed the latest developments of “the main hotbeds of tension in Africa, including the situations prevailing in Libya, in Western Sahara, Mali and in the Sahel, Central and Horn of Africa regions.”
Boukadoum congratulated Raychelle Omamo, for the “regional and continental leadership of Kenya”, wishing her “great success in the exercise of her mandate as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council,” while expressing “Algeria’s support in this endeavor aimed at bringing loud and clear the legitimate aspirations of the African peoples for peace and stability,” the ministry added.
