Boukadoum at ministerial meeting of AU High Level Committee on South Sudan

NIAMEY- Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum took part on Saturday, on the sidelines of his participation at the 35th ordinary session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council,
at the ministerial meeting of AU High Level Committee on South Sudan, called C5, comprising in addition to Algeria, Rwanda, Chad, Nigeria and chaired by South Africa.
This meeting was organized to strengthen the African Union’s mobilization and support to the mediation of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and efforts of the region to end the crisis in this country as soon as possible, on the basis of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (ARRCSS), of 12 September 2018.
In his speech, Foreign minister reiterated Algeria’s commitment, like that of C5’s members, to the stability in South Sudan and to renewing its commitment to “continuing its efforts, as part of this mechanism, to speed up the peace and stability process in this brotherly country.”
C5’s meeting also allowed assessing the progress that has been made as part of implementing the peace process in South Sudan and reiterating the support of C5 and of the African Union to IGAD’s efforts aimed at accompanying the South-Sudanese parts on the path of peace and reconciliation.
