Algeria-EU association: Setting common goals over next three years

ALGIERS-The Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa Affairs in the European External Action Service, Nick Westcott on Wednesday expressed the hope that Algeria and the European Union (EU) agree on a document “including common goals to achieve over the next three years.”
“We pursed discussions on the goals to set part of the Algeria-EU association agreement, and I hope we will agree on a document including the common goals to achieve and the most measures to implement over the next three years,” Westcott stated after a meeting with Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra.
“We broached regional issues and others related to Algeria. Moreover, we agree on the importance of strengthening our partnership (Algeria-EU,” stated Westcott.
The meeting is devoted to the assessment of cooperation between Algeria and the European Union (EU), the evaluation of implementation of the sectoral support program and the examination of cooperation and partnership perspectives with European partners.
A report will be draw up on the basis of a joint assessment of the Association agreement implementation between both parties ten years after it came into force,” the Foreign Ministry said.
Both parties will also “examine priorities of partnership between Algeria and the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), in which Algeria intends participate,” added the same source.
