ALGIERS- Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra said Saturday that Algeria is a “factor of regional stability” and shares with Africa and the international community its experience in the fight against terrorism.
In an interview granted to the international channel of the national radio, Lamamra affirmed that “Algeria is a factor of stabilization, an impulse for regional solidarity and an exporter of security and stability,” underlining that it “shares with Africa and all the international community the experience of the fight against terrorism.”
“Algeria is a pioneering country in the fight against terrorism,” added Lamamra, regretting that at the time when Algeria leaded alone the fight against terrorism, and at the time when we gave to the world this rare example of a country which took stand against the phenomenon, some western countries, which themselves are today hit by the same scourge, talked about political violence in Algeria and even civil war in some political and media circles.”
In this regard, Lamamra affirmed that Algeria defeated alone terrorism and completed this triumph with the policy of the national reconciliation established by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, before being “massively” adopted by the Algerian people.
While broaching Algeria’s contribution to the continent, Lamamra said that Algeria has initiated a certain number of projects in Africa, like the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT) whose headquarters is in Algiers.
