UAE Foreign Minister congratulates Algeria on UNSC membership

The minister of Foreign Affairs and International Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received Thursday a phone call from his brother, His Highness Abdullah bin Zayed Al ‎Nahyan, the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), during which he congratulated Algeria on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al ‎Nahyan conveyed, in his own name and on behalf of all the members of the royal family, his warmest greetings to the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, congratulating Algeria on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and wishing every success to our country in the accomplishment of its future mission within this UN body.

He also expressed his country’s willingness to share its experience, especially as Algeria will take over from the United Arab Emirates within the Security Council from January 1st.

Ahmed Attaf, in the phone conversation with the UAE official, expressed his deep appreciation for the United Arab Emirates’ support of Algeria’s membership bid.

The Foreign Minister welcomes the willingness of the Emirati brothers to share the rich experience they have acquired at the Security Council during the last two years.

He also stressed that Algeria would make sure to be a good successor at the Security Council by pleading and defending the issues and priorities of the Arab nation.
