Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Libya

The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, under the instructions of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has had a phone conversation with the chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Younes al-Menfi, in which he ensured him that Algeria was fully ready to support, by all means, the Libyan State following the devastating floods that hit the country.

During the phone conversation, Attaf offered to El-Menfi sincere condolences in the name of Algeria, people and government, following the devastating floods that hit the brotherly country, causing a great number of casualties (dead, injured and missing), adding that Algeria shares with the Libyan people their pain and sorrow.

The minister said Algeria was fully ready to support our brothers in Libya, by all means, to mitigate the impact of the tragedy, stressing to the chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council that the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, follows closely and with great interest the developments of this natural disaster and the tragedies it has caused.

Attaf added that the president of the Republic gave instructions to the relevant Algerian authorities to immediately send urgent aid to the disaster areas.

Mohamed Younes El-Menfi, for his part, expressed  his deep thanks and gratitude‎ to Algeria for this surge of solidarity, which is not strange from Algeria and its leadership, as it has always supported the Libyan people, at all times and under all circumstances.

The Libyan official underlined the brotherly, cooperation and good neighborly relations between the two countries and the two people.
