President Tebboune receives Congolese minister of foreign affairs

ALGIERS – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday in Algiers received Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Claude Gakosso.
He is the envoy of Congolese president Denis Sassou N’Guesso, president of the African Union’s High level Committee on Libya.
“I carry a message from President Denis Sassou N’Guesso to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, about Libya where the situation has become worse,” Gakosso told the press following his meeting with the head of the Head of the State.
Currently, the Congolese president is the chairman of the African Union’s High level Committee on Libya.
As the situation in Libya is becoming worse, President N’Guesso invites the Heads of State, members of this Committee to a summit in Brazzaville “to reflect on the way to take a common African position in order to prevent the deterioration of the situation in this country and spare no efforts to help the Libyans return to the path of fraternity,” he said.
The Congolese minister said that “the AU High Level Committee on Libya mission consists in bringing the Libyans to a reconciliation conference before considering any electoral process”.
“We do not see how we can organize elections in the current of Libya, subjected to violence, and where militias hold almost entire cities,” he said, stressing the need to achieve “appeasement, obtain a ceasefire before the resumption of the reconciliation process.”
The meeting has been attended by Chief of Staff at the Presidency of the Republic Noureddine Ayadi, Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum, Minister Councilor for Communication, Official Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic Belaïd Mohand Oussaïd and Secretary of State in charge of the national community and experts abroad Rachid Bladehane.
Previously, Gakosso arrived in Algiers for a visit, in his capacity as envoy of Congolese president, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, president of the African Union (AU) High Level Committee on Libya.
