ALGIERS-President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen on Sunday hailed Algeria’s position in favour of the Palestinian cause and its unwavering support for the Palestinian people,
announced the Upper House in a communiqué.
During a meeting with Speaker of the Council of the National (Upper House) on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum in Sharm el-Sheikh, Abbas hailed the position of the Algerian “people and government, under the leadership of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in favour of the Palestinian cause and its unwavering support to the Palestinian people.
The audience, which took place in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sport El Hadi Ould Ali Algeria’s Ambassasdor to Cairo, was an opportunity to discuss the situation in Palestine in the light of the Palestinian factions’ union after the Palestinian government regained control over the Gaza strip, said the source.
Bensalah reiterated Algeria’s constant support to the Palestinian cause based on the principle of the Palestinian people’s right to an independent State with al-Quds as capital city, in accordance with international legality and the UN resolutions.
Bensalah and Abbas stressed the need to boost relations between both countries’ legislative institutions.
Bensalah arrived Saturday evening to Egypt to take part as representative of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika in the World Youth Forum held on 4-9 November in Sharm el-Sheikh.
He was welcomed upon his arrival in Sharm el-Sheikh by Minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt Tarek Kabil and Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic Ahmed al-Ansari.
Algeria participates with a delegation composed of representatives of various regions in this event that brings together over 3000 young people from the whole world.
