ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika sent a message to his Tunisian counterpart Baji Caid Essebsi to mark the 59th anniversary of the Sakiet Sidi Youcef events,
in which he reaffirmed his “sincere willingness to strengthen and promote the privileged bilateral relations uniting the two countries.”
“On the occasion of the commemoration of the 59th anniversary of the Sakiet Sidi Youcef events, it is my pleasure to present, on behalf of the Algerian people and government and on my own behalf, our best wishes of health and well-being to your people, more progress and prosperity in peace and serenity,” wrote the Head of State in his message.
“While recalling this heroic epic where the blood of our valorous martyrs merged, further strengthening the fraternity and solidarity ties that unite the Algerian people and the brotherly Tunisian people, who did not hesitate to welcome Algeria’s revolutionaries and to support their fight for the liberation from the yoke of colonialism, we pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the barbaric attack of 8 February 1958, praying Almighty God to welcome them to his Paradise,” said President Bouteflika.
“On this occasion, I would like to reaffirm our sincere willingness to strengthen and promote the privileged bilateral relations that unite the two countries to meet the aspirations of both our peoples for more cooperation, solidarity and cohesion for the best of their common interests.”
