APS : TUESDAY 15 MAY 2018
ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika condemned “the despicable” crime perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian civilians near the border strip of Gaza,
and reiterated Algeria’s “constant” position and support to the Palestinian people.
“It is with deep sadness and outrage that I learnt that over 50 Palestinians were killed and more than 1700 others were wounded by the Israeli occupation forces during bloody clashes at the Gaza border strip, where the Israeli occupation continues to clamp down against Palestinian civilians, flouting international laws, charters and conventions on human rights and international humanitarian law,” President Bouteflika affirmed in a message to President of the State of Palestine, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Mahmoud Abbas.
“Following this ignoble crime that plunged into mourning Muslims and the whole world, which we vigorously condemn, I reiterate Algeria’s support and solidarity with you in this difficult ordeal and the brotherly Palestinian people in their fight against the Israeli brutality,” said the Head of State, deploring “the degradation of the situation due to the Israeli stubbornness and its withdrawal from the peace process, braving the international community.”
“I reiterate Algeria’s firm and constant position in favour of the Palestinian people until the recovery of their national spoiled rights, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with al-Quds as capital based on the borders of 1967,” President Bouteflika told his Palestinian counterpart.
“I seize this opportunity to meditate on the memory of the martyrs of freedom and dignity, and offer you and the families of the victims, the wounded and to the Palestinian people as a whole, on behalf of the Algerian people and government and on my own behalf, my heartfelt condolences and deep compassion and sympathy praying Almighty God to welcome the martyrs in His Heaven,” concluded President Bouteflika, wishing “a prompt recovery to the wounded.”
