He has noted that relations with North Africa are important for Bulgaria and are based on the good partnership over the years in the field of infrastructure projects, energy and water sources, etc. Mr. Simeonov expressed hope for intensification of bilateral relations, noting that bilateral trade between Bulgaria and Algeria had marked an increase in the years before the pandemic. The President of the Chamber has announced that a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the BCCI on the establishment of a joint business council has been received and is to be signed soon.
H.E. Mrs. Baya Bensmail, Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, has noted that the meeting is held just on time to boost bilateral relations as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Algeria’s strategic location makes the country a gateway for Europe to Africa. In this regard, Hameni suggested organizing regular virtual events and videoconferences, as well as bilateral sectoral meetings with business representatives from Bulgaria in order to intensify bilateral relations.
