ALGIERS- UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said his participation in the 31st Arab Summit was meant to be an expression of solidarity and gratitude to Algeria and its people,
calling the Arab League a very important partner of the United Nations in the establishment of security, peace and development in the world.
The UN chief told reporters, following an audience granted to him by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, that he was delighted to be in Algeria, adding that the Arab League “is a very important partner of the United Nations,” and that they will “work together for the establishment of security, peace and development” in the world
“My presence here gave me the opportunity to express my gratitude and my solidarity with Algeria and its people.”
Guterres stressed “Algeria’s essential role in supporting liberation movements in Africa.”
