The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf received Wednesday a phone call from his French counterpart, Stéphane Séjourné.
The two FMs discussed bilateral ties and the preparation of the next high-level bilateral events. Moreover, they focused on the current debate at the Security Council on the Palestinian issue in general and the unprecedented tragedy being experienced by the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
The two officials noted a convergence of views on the pressing need for the Security Council to take suitable measures. The aim is to expedite the resolution of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to proclaim an immediate and unconditional ceasefire as a matter of urgency.
In the same regard, the two ministers stressed the need to revive the political process to reach a just, sustainable and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, founded on the principle of two states.
