Minister Attaf attends African Union Executive Council meeting
Tasked by the president of the Republic, the minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, arrived Tuesday evening in Addis Ababa, in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, to participate in the extraordinary session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council, scheduled for Friday 15 March.
This extraordinary session will be held under the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, with the participation of Foreign ministers of the member countries of the continental organization.
The meeting’s works will focus on the mechanisms for selecting and electing members of the AU Commission, in anticipation of the important event scheduled for early next year, which will witness the election of a new Chairperson of the Commission, a Vice-Chairperson, as well as six Commissioners charged with various major issues on the continental agenda.
