Messahel discusses, in Rome, with UN Special Representative for Libya

ROME- Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel held Saturday, in Rome, talks with Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Libya Ghassane Salame on the sidelines of his participation in the 3rd International Conference “Rome-Mediterranean Dialogues” which kicked off Thursday in the Italian capital.
Messahel examined with Salame “the evolution of the situation in Libya and the latest developments marking the crisis in this country.”
In this regard, the minister “reiterated Algeria’s strong support to the UN efforts for the settlement of the Libyan crisis, while respecting its unity, sovereignty and integrity.”
He added that Algeria, “which maintains regular contacts with the Libyan players, continues its efforts aimed at supporting the Libyan brothers on the path of dialogue and reconciliation.”
Salame thanked Algeria for “its stabilizing role in the region and Libya,” pointing out that the situation in this country “remains complex because of the challenges of terrorism, organized crime as well as migration which is now experiencing an unprecedented scale.”
He said that he remains “committed to implementing his roadmap for the settlement of the Libyan crisis and reconstruction of the country and its institutions.”
