Joint Algerian-Jordanian statement following King Abdullah II bin Hussein visit to Algeria

ALGIERS-The State visit paid by King Abdullah II bin Hussein, ruler of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Algeria on December 3-4 was crowned by a joint Algerian-Jordanian declaration, which was translated by APS:
“On the basis of the fraternal and historical relations between the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and in response to the kind invitation of his brother, His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Hussein, Sovereign of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, visited Algeria on 3 and 4 December 2022.”
The two leaders held bilateral talks, followed by an extended session with members of both countries’ delegations, in a spirit of friendship and fraternity that demonstrates the depth of the close and historical relations between the two countries.
Various aspects of bilateral cooperation in all fields were discussed during this meeting, in addition to the ways to strengthen them in the best interests of the two brotherly countries.
The leaders further shed light on the strengthening of joint Arab action to face common challenges and to better serve Arab causes.
In this regard, His Majesty King Abdullah II hailed his brother, His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the success of the 31st Arab Summit in Algiers, held on 1-2 November 2022.
His Majesty the King of Jordan welcomed the important results achieved by the Summit in addressing the current challenges facing the Arab Nation, unifying its ranks and safeguarding its interests in the service of its issues, foremost among which is the Palestinian cause
In addition, he also welcomed activating joint Arab action and strengthening efforts to deal with crises at the regional level, and raising the level of joint cooperation in consecrating security, stability, and prosperity in the region.
The two leaders stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the importance of a just solution that can guarantee all the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people on the basis of the two-state solution, which enshrines the independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the borders of June 4, 1967, with al-Quds as its capital, in accordance with the relevant decisions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, the only path to a just, comprehensive and lasting peace.
The two leaders stressed the importance of enshrining Palestinian unity and ending the division. The Jordanian monarch highlighted the efforts of the President of the Republic to reduce differences and consolidate Palestinian unity and welcomed all initiatives in this direction.
The two leaders also stressed the need to preserve the historical and legal status of the Islamic and Christian Holy Places in al Quds.
In this regard, His Excellency President Tebboune recalled the central role of the historic Hashemite Trusteeship in protecting the Islamic and Christian Holy Places in al Quds, their Arab, Muslim and Christian identity, as well as the role of the Administration of the Waqfs of al Quds and the Affairs of the al Aqsa Mosque under the Jordanian Ministry of Waqfs and Islamic Places, which has exclusive competence in the management of the Affairs of the al Aqsa Mosque and the Holy Places of al Quds, a space dedicated in its entirety to the exercise of Muslim worship.
President Tebboune and King Abdullah II discussed a number of regional and international issues and developments, affirming the importance of strengthening inter-Arab economic cooperation and complementarity.
They also stressed the importance of bilateral coordination and cooperation at the level of regional and international organizations and bodies for the benefit of their interests and in the service of Arab causes and the foundations of security, peace, and stability in the region and throughout the world, while highlighting the central role played by the two countries in this framework.
At the end of his visit, His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Hussein, Sovereign of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, expressed his deep thanks and consideration to his brother President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and the delegation accompanying him and.
King Abdullah II invited his brother President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to visit the Hashemite Kingdom.
The President of the Republic accepted the invitation, the date to be fixed later through diplomatic channels.
