ALGIERS- An international symposium on “Algeria’s contribution to decolonization in Africa” will be held in Algiers on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the participation of distinguished national and African personalities, said Sunday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
The symposium, organized by the Foreign Ministry in coordination with the Ministry of Mujahideen (Liberation War veterans) under the high patronage of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, will bring together “distinguished national and African personalities as well as renowned academics,” said the statement.
It will be an opportunity for the participants to underline the “special relations linking Algeria with Africa and which drew their substance from the joint struggles against the colonial yoke and the Apartheid regime,” said the Ministry’s statement.
The meeting will be also an opportunity to reaffirm international community’s commitment to the principle of people’s right to self-determination, in accordance with the international law.
“African peoples have resolutely moved towards building together a future of peace, progress and prosperity in an international environment marked by deep imbalances,” added the statement.
The symposium coincides with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in their struggle for their inalienable right to establish an independent state with al-Quds as its capital, concluded the Ministry’s statement.
