GCTF: Meetings on capacity building in West African countries from Tuesday in Algeria

ALGIERS- Algeria will host, as from Tuesday, the 2nd plenary meeting of the working group of the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) on capacity building in
the West African countries and a workshop on “police cooperation between the countries of West Africa,” said Sunday a communiqué of Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The opening ceremony of these two meetings, to last three days, will be chaired by Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel.
“Issues relating to the evolution of terrorist threat in the Sahel-Saharan region, the management of border security, the return of foreign terrorist combatants, terrorism financing, prevention from radicalization and violent extremism, and for the first time the role of women in combating these scourges will be examined on the occasion of this meeting,” said the source.
More than 100 experts in the fields of prevention and fight against terrorism and violent extremism, representing GCTF’s member countries, West Africa’s countries as well as international and regional organizations, including the United Nations, the African Union, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the European Union, AFRIPOL, EUROPOL and INTERPOL, will take part in this second meeting of GCTF’s working group and the workshop on “the police cooperation between the countries of West Africa,” added the source.
