Crisis in Niger: Italy supports President Tebboune’s initiative for political solution
Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received on Friday, a telephone call from his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, who said that the Italian government supports and warmly welcomes the initiative of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at ensuring the possibility of implementing a political solution to settle the crisis in Niger.
Tajani said that his country’s government supports and warmly welcomes the initiative taken by President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in sending envoys to Niger and the countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), with a view to bringing together the necessary conditions to ensure the possibility of implementing a political solution to settle the crisis in Niger.
In this regard, Tajani said that Italy fully shares Algeria’s concern about the repercussions of the use of force, expressing his country’s readiness to support Algeria’s efforts and steps to calm the situation and work towards a return to constitutional order in Niger by peaceful means.
