Bouhadja, Al Salami underline need to promote Arab Parliament’s action

ALGIERS-President of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House) Said Bouhadja and Speaker of the Arab Parliament (AP) Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami on Wednesday underlined the need to promote the Arab parliamentary action to address the challenges facing the Arab nation, said the Lower House in a statement.
During a meeting with AP Speaker, on official visit to Algeria, Bouhadja underlined the importance of “PA’s active role in the current situation,” highlighting “Algeria’s permanent support to the PA’s action.”
As for the situation in the Arab world, Bouhadja reiterated the need to respect States’ sovereignty and the principle of non-interference in internal affairs,” and called to “adopt the peaceful means and dialogue to settle issues and preserve the Arab nation.”
In the same connection, Bouhadja highlighted the importance of boosting the reconciliation process in Libya especially as “its stability serves the entire Arab region and promotes its development”.
He also emphasized “the need to maintain the Palestinian question at the top of Arab concerns especially following the recognition by the United States of Al Quds as capital of the State of occupation.”
For his part, Al-Salami took the opportunity to highlight the importance attached to “promoting Arab parliamentary action beyond the level of consultation”, stating that the institution he chairs “is able to strengthen the Arab unity especially in the current sensitive situation of the region.”
In view of the situation, the Arab Parliament must draw inspiration from Algeria’s experience in national reconciliation to address some Arab disputes, said Al-Salami, recalling that Algeria was the starting point of the Arab Parliament thanks to the great support provided by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
The same official also focused on the plans for future action, particularly in terms of support for the Palestinian question in the face of the US decision about Al Quds and the mechanisms of the plan to fight against extremism and terrorism, as well as the promotion of diplomatic action with parliamentary institutions at the national, regional and international levels in the service of Arab interests and issues, concluded the communiqué.
