ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, “who follows hour by hour” the developments of the hostage taking Friday at a hotel in Bamako, Mali, ordered to immediately set up an emergency committee at the ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
“As soon as the terrorist attack and hostage taking at Radisson Hotel in Bamako (Mali) was announced, President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who follows hour by hour the evolution of the situation, ordered to immediately set up an emergency committee at the ministry of Foreign Affairs to collect information about the attack and its implications,” the MFA said in a statement.
“Senior State officials, members of an official delegation who were in Bamako, had been in the hotel during the attack.”
“All the delegation members have been set free safe and sound. Another Algerian, a foreign company’s executive, has also been released,” the ministry assured.
“The emergency committee is closely following the evolution of the situation in coordination with the other State institutions. In permanent contact with Algeria’s Embassy in Bamako, it will keep informed State’s top officials about the terrorist attack developments.”

Radison Hotel of Bamako, a luxury facility accommodating foreign delegations, was stormed Friday morning by heavily armed gunmen, taking 170 people hostage.
