Attaf meets in London with British Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, met on Friday with the British Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, as part of his official visit to London to represent the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the coronation ceremony of His Majesty King Charles III.
The Minister of State welcomed the participation of Algeria in the ceremony marking the accession to the throne of the new British monarch.
The two officials discussed the state of bilateral relations and prospects for strengthening them in the fields of energy, trade, security, and culture.
They expressed their satisfaction with the promising development of these relations and agreed to reactivate the Joint Working Group for the enhancement of economic cooperation with a view to building a strong partnership that is commensurate with the economic and human potential of both countries.
In addition, and in anticipation of the next session of the Algeria-UK Strategic Dialogue, the two ministers exchanged views on several issues of common interest, including the situations in Mali, Libya, and the Sahel-Saharan area, as well as developments in the treatment of the Western Sahara issue.
The deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in Sudan was also discussed in light of ongoing efforts to stop military hostilities and reach a political and sustainable solution to the crisis in this country.
