ALGIERS- Algeria spares no effort to boost, through various initiatives and actions, the fight against terrorism in the Sahel sub-region,
Houas Ayache, an ambassador and advisor at the ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Wednesday in Algiers.
“Algeria spares no effort to enhance, through different initiatives and actions, counterterrorism in the Sahel and is incessantly working to restore, in this region and the rest of the world, peace, stability and prosperity,” Ayache said in an opening address at the experts’ workshop on the “role of criminal justice in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel.”
Ayache, who co-chaired the workshop with Canada’s Ambassador David Drake, said the fight against terrorism “through ways and methods complying with the law and international legality is a matter of permanent concern in the international community’s efforts.”
The Algerian diplomat stressed that “reality on the ground shows that terrorist groups are stepping back in the face of strong States.”
Terrorists “know how to take advantage of possible institutional weaknesses that may exist here and there.”
