Algeria re-elected at International Telecommunication Union Council

ALGIERS- Algeria was re-elected, with 134 of the 177 votes cast, at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council, during the elections held in Dubai on Monday, as part of the Plenipotentiary Conference,
the supreme organ of this International Organization
According to a statement of the Foreign Ministry made public Monday evening, the re-election “strengthens the status of our country within this international institution and allows it to participate actively and effectively to its proceedings and to play a central role in the evolution of telecommunications for the benefit of the peoples worldwide, especially in developing countries.”
Since its first election to the ITU Council at the Geneva Conference of 1965, Algeria has been regularly re-elected at all sessions in recognition of its commitment and effective contribution to the various conferences, assemblies and meetings of the Union’s bodies.
