ALGIERS- A cooperation agreement in the field of communication and media has been signed on Wednesday by Ministry of Communication and its Palestinian counterpart.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Communication, Djamel Kaouane and Palestinian Minister of Information, Mohamed Assaf.
Following the signing ceremony, Kaouane welcomed the cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including communication sector.
In this regard, the minister reiterated Algeria’s support to Palestine in the field of media, while being confident about the future of the bilateral cooperation.
Reiterating Algeria’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, which, he said, “doesn’t stem from the principle of solidarity only but from the defence of a cause in which we believe,” Kaouane recalled President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s message to his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, in which he reaffirmed “Algeria’s support to the Palestinian cause and its solidarity with the Palestinian people, their leadership until the recovery of its legitimate rights and the establishment of its independent state with al Quds as a capital.”
Media “will remain the best weapon of the State of Palestine to impose its cause and defend the legitimate rights of its people,” he said.
As for him, the Palestinian Minister praised Algeria’s “unlimited support” for his country, both from the leadership and the people, which encourage resistance to tyranny.
Assaf said that the agreements aimed at “transmitting and spreading all that is happening in Palestine (…) via the direct source, namely the official media which is present in all the provinces of Palestine,” and also “collecting information about Algeria from its official media.”
Assaf seized the opportunity to highlight the Palestinian people resistance against the attempts to kill their just cause.
As example of those attempts, he mentioned the US administration’s decision to recognize Al-Quds as the capital of Israel.
